Det Mercedes Barren's niece is killed in Florida. Her death is similar to others in the area. A man is arrested and charged with other murders, authorities think he is also Barren's niece's killer. Det. Barren doesn't think so and she investigates on her own. The investigation leads to a prison, more murders and eventually the truth.

Enjoy the murder, see it as an art and a profession.

I stopped reading after the first half! It's one of the most boring stories I've ever read! No excitement nothing that catches your breath! Nothing!

It's a good book, but not what Katzenbach got us used to. The plot is good, but some parts come easily to a solution, (view spoiler)[for example, how Mercedes finds out who is the killer, and later how she finds out where they are hiding, (hide spoiler)] and I believe that should have been more difficult to make it a better story. (view spoiler)[How can Douglas work so hard to hide all his killings, making them look like they were perpetrated by someone else, and the detective found out so easy

Amazing

My friend, Jeanie, was appalled to learn I'd never read anything by John Katzenbach so I did. The Traveler is a really interesting book. It is quite gruesome and grizzly and scary. (It's the first time a book has ever given me nightmares and I've read some hard stuff.) The plot is compelling. The story is really two run in parallel - the protagonist's journey as well as the villan's. A really interesting read.

This book was a journey. At first I thought it was boring, but then I started to enjoy it. Plus the ending was everything I was expecting.
