Wow! This is an amazing and disturbing account of the consequences hateful, self absorbed small minded people can inflict on other human beings and feel justified in doing so. Some definite parallels to our current political situation...But 3 women, in the midst of such barbaric behavior, survive the cruelty while secretly pregnant, giving birth in horrid conditions just before liberation. It's what happens after that event that was totally new to me. Again, wow.

The experiences of the three women was certainly horrific. I didn't have as much background about the liberation and complications of government within eastern European countries post-liberation prior to reading this book. I appreciated having the opportunity to learn more about those aspects of the Holocaust.
