This book was AMAZING! There is no doubt that this book is my favorite from this series. Dimitri was a badass! Literally, Ive been screaming of excitement when I read about Dimitri as a strigoi. He was so hot! Not that he wasnt hot before, but I have a soft spot for bad guys in books. And bad Dimitri... I was actually drooling. Dimitris family! Oh my God. I stumbled over Mead's Vampire Academy series more or less by accident, however I'm glad I did! these novels are a great piece of fiction (even though, starting to reach my thirties, I'm too old for them really. As oppose to other young adult novels and novels in this genre, they contain quite complex characters, who are dynamic and continue to develop through out the series. They are fast paced and Mead, obviously a good story-teller, creats an intriguing story with many different sides to it.

So 1st I have to say that I love Mead. But this book was only OK to Good for me which I guess was a disappointment. I think she could have & has done much better. To summarize, I didn't feel as emotionally connected to the characters & I expected to be, esp after the last book. But also - I think structurally, the book was too condensed & didn't have to be.OK so here I go, SPOILERS for VA #4 - BLOOD PROMISE BELOW:I felt there was far too much recap of the previous 3 books. The third book of the vampire academy series left all of us hanging. All of us wanting more. & all of us with the same question, what happened to dimitri?!
