Nathaniel's 1st Adventure (Cosmic Aviators #1)
Cosmic Aviators - Nathaniel’s 1st Adventure (#1)
Twelve-year old Nathaniel Ravenscroft discovers he has telekinetic skills. When neighbour Doctor Crisp dies, he bequeaths a magical wristwatch to Nathaniel. Fantastic events unfold, household objects move by themselves and a hologram of Doctor Crisp appears. Nathaniel meets a cosmic boy called Theodore Firestar. Theodore explains that the existence and progression of the Cosmos relies on the golden radiance of ten special golden pentacles.
Nathaniel's dog, Otto, falls into the fourth dimension where Nathaniel meets Ruben and Octavia, space travellers from another planet. They unite as the Cosmic Aviators, each armed with a gifted watch and rocket boots for space travel.
Ruben and Octavia tell Nathaniel about an evil man called Sebastian who is aided by pilot demons called Maxidroids. Sebastian is slowly destroying Ruben and Octavia's home planet. Nathaniel is shocked when he finds out that the evil Sebastian is his Uncle Sebastian from Littlehampton, U.K. His mind reminisces about a time when he overheard his uncle talk of the “Curse of the black diamonds” giving him the “Dark edge on reality”. Nathaniel realizes that his uncle has been living a double life thriving on evil and contempt.
Can Nathaniel stop his uncle from destroying planet Granberg and planet Earth? Can Nathaniel and the other Cosmic Aviators stop the Dark Triangle of Odium, Maximus (the Maxidroid leader) and the Maxidroids from destroying the universe?
Rating: 7.5/10.0Review: Neilsons Cosmic Aviators Nathaniels First Adventure is focused on Tweens (9-14). I read this book, first to myself (28 year old) then to my kids. Reading it to myself, there was an obvious language gap. However, when reading it to my kids, they were able to understand (for the most part, the book is written in British English while we normally read American English) and paraphrase the book after we were finished. They seemed to enjoy the book and they really loved Otto!
This book was really good entertainment - An excellent adventure space fiction book. Clever, sharp and quality. Liked Otto the dog and Uncle Sebastian - scary character! A first-rate read!

As myself and my family were heading off on a skiing holiday for two weeks to Italy in mid December I decided that my eight year (unable to carry his star wars figurines) needed a read to stimulate his over active sci-fi mind. Luckily Charlotte recommended this little book of thought to me. Jack read the book on the flight and was instantly drawn into the amazing adventures and larger than life characters as i was. It sure kept jack not only quiet on the flight but for most of the first week. As
I bought the book to read with my older niece, I am a sci-fi/fantasy fan and was drawn to the manga-looking front cover, which is more her interest. Cosmic Aviators didn't disappoint on any fronts. It's an exciting adventure, funny, imaginative, articulate and doesn't talk down to kids. The story fits within the fine tradition of children's literature including the slightly absent and absent-minded parents and themes of friendship and loyalty along with plenty of gadgets and magic. Fantastic
Thought it was amazing! Highly recommend it for any tween/anyone!It's an intriguing story and keeps you glued to the pages!Loved it!
This is a brilliantly entertaining and inventive children's adventure/introductory sci-fi book. I bought it and read it with my son (10 years old) who I must add thought it was superb! It kept him gripped and I must say I was very impressed. I'm looking forward to more from this author.
